Digital Marketing Trends Of 2015

Digital Marketing Trends of 2015

Digital Marketing is taking a rapid leap into being the best marketing tool for almost any business entity, making sure customer interaction becomes an intimate and frequent one.

Quick fact: Australia now ranks 3rd in digital ad spending, meaning among others, their mobile advertising is huge, so huge that it outperforms both magazine and outdoor advertising sectors within it’s country.

Here are a few digital trends straight from a reliable source which we fully agree with. These trends will surely succeed within the year of 2015.

Multi- Channel Media

A single device is no longer the star of the show, now we deal with all kinds of smart devices that basically have almost all the media you need in one device. There are those who shop online using their smartphones on the go by simply capturing the picture and having a QR Code scan the necessary details and then there are the latter who shop all their goods from the comfort of their own home.

The purchase intent are driven by several factors, including online reviews, pop-up ads and social media influence. Standard advertising that randomly targets consumers through a single channel is no longer cost effective. The way to really multiply your brands success is by reaching your customers through multiple media paths, get into session based tracking across channels including  mobile phones, desktop, social AND traditional – basically tackle them all!

The Data

Data is expanding exponentially, with user generated content being at the heart of it all. Worldwide, close to 2 billion photos are uploaded onto the internet via social media on a daily basis. There are over 1500 points of data on the average online user, gathered from platforms like Google Search, eCommerce and Social media.

Nowadays, it is alot easier to track and make sense of data used within businesses and huge companies, by the use of real-time automated tracking of customer communication and interactivity. For millenials and future generations, personalisation over privacy is becoming an actual trend, supported entirely by  big data.

SEM / SEO and all that Jargon

As search and social engines get more intelligent, there are increasingly more results now than traditional / organic SEO results.

There are paid ads, knowledge graphs, local search, product results, social signals and much more as Google keeps improving their algorithms to become more ‘HUMAN’. As the SEO strategy grows and becomes more versatile and harder to understand, the ability to track every click to a conversion means you now need to have an excellent understanding of all the terminology within your business in order to sell your products wisely.

Mobile Strategy

Mobile strategy is a necessity for businesses of all sizes. Smart mobile devices are taking over desktop traffic for every industry…and I mean EVERY SINGLE INDUSTRY! On mobile devices, games and social media get most user time and engagement, followed closely by first lands on your website which are increasingly from mobile devices.

Apps are the kings of our time, booming with more and more users preferring mobile apps to mobile web. While the main barrier to apps is downloading them, location awareness and personalisation provides big advantages, not to mention the trust once users are integrated into them.

Wall Wraps Put Us In A Happy Place

Wall Wraps Put Us in a Happy Place!

Who would have known that the simple use of vinyl designed into different patterns and art cut outs would turn a plain space into such a beautiful and creative environment.

This children’s hospital was transformed to resemble a world far away from any kind, and help the children think of anything else besides their medical problems. This is an initiative I wish to see become a part of our country and situated within the walls of our children’s hospital, encouraging them daily to stay strong, hopeful, happy and in an environment which will keep them comfortable.

Hospitals are not fun, not only are you sick, but the food is horrible too and your surroundings are bleak and sterile. A British art organisation by the name of Vital Arts decided to transform London Royal Children’s Hospital into, a FUN place to be in.

The project’s artists used vinyl, ceramics, rugs, wood and other assorted materials to decorate the hospital’s spaces accordingly. Vibrant colours and cheerful artwork of animals and nature adorned the walls to create a world of make-believe. The hospital looks so good, that a child might never want to leave!!

Alot of cities, all around the world suffer alot of pollution, mainly that of regular old street trash. An anti-littering ad campaign in Toronto, created a creative ad to help raise public awareness of the issue.

The city of Toronto Livegreen organisation’s newest ad campaign shouts it’s slogan at passers by- “stating that littering says alot about you”- by arranging street litter to spell put straight-forward derogatory  terms aimed at those who litter.

Social Media Will Take Over The World

Social Media Will Take Over The World.

So we all are pretty familiar with various social networks on how to use them and how NOT to use them, and slowly but surely our daily lives are being consumed by all forms of social media!
We thrive on selfies to gain acknowledgement and some sort of approval via Instagram accounts, update strangers on our constant whereabouts using ‘hashtags’ and actual mapping solutions that show our locations for all to see, and day after day we feel the need to tell the world all our problems and situations that bombard our lifestyles, in order to vent in some form of way- in the public eye.
Social media has become a massive monster that literally nobody of any age can ever escape from, and whether we like it or not, Social Media is taking over the World!
I am going to share with you new social media as well as current ones that have us at their fingertips and will possibly control us in the near future! These are the networks that will dominate the year 2015.
Introducing: ELLO
Welcome the new social platform, ELLO, and yes , that is the actual logo! Simple and clean and almost creepy!
You may have heard the rumours of this network slowly growing from other network buzz, but it is simply a site that’s currently in public beta, meaning it’s only accessible upon typing your email address and awaiting an invite. In spite of the ‘invite only’ option, the site still seems to be flocking in the masses in very large volumes. A quick search on Google for this new site shows headlines such as, “Ello, the ad-free social network”, ‘Ello, the hip new Facebook’ and ‘New social network dubbed the anti-Facebook”just to name a few.
So the question one asks is, what is Ello, and why is everyone so excited about it?
In a nutshell, Ello appears to be more a reaction to the failings of other social networking sites than anything else. If your’e tired of annoying Facebook features that feel the need to force you to participate in actions you don’t feel are necessary, intrusive ads and lack of privacy, then Ello is basically for you!
What Ello seems to have that other networks don’t, is an ad-free alternative that promises to never sell your information to third parties. In fact, it appears that this promise is the foundation on which the platform is built: ‘Collecting and selling your personal data, reading your posts to your friends, mapping your social connections for profit is both creepy and unethical. Under the guise of offering a “free” service, users pay a high price in intrusive advertising and lack of privacy.” They said it themselves!!
The network is also free to use and apparently will remain free for users. But we ask ourselves, how will Ello make money with no advertising?? Well, the company plans to eventually generate revenue by offering special features to it’s users: ” We occasionally offer special features to our users. If we create a special feature that you really like, you may choose to support Ello by paying a very small amount of money to add that feature to your Ello account.”
So BASICALLY, Nothing is ever fully free….We see what you did there Ello!!
It’s unclear at this point whether the extreme buzz around this platform is simply because of it’s positioning as the “anti-Facebook”, or whether it has the substance, design and functionality to actually become a serious competitor for Facebook.
Only the future will tell if this social platform keeps it’s promises or not!

FACEBOOK
Herewith the rival of Ello, Facebook, with it’s glorious network of people and theft of privacy on a day-to-day basis. Facebook is King when it comes to it’s functions, but it’s no secret that it’s current post reach is significantly decreasing serving a serious problem for its users, especially the business owners who use the site as a business marketing tool. This steady decline in reach is what has been coined the Filtered Feed Problem.
As Facebook continues to limit the number of posts page fans get to view, the demand for promoted posts and ads will continue to increase. With this increased demand will come increased pricing.

So Facebook is not in trouble yet, and may face a great year ahead!

So within this year, mainly business owners have higher pricing plans to face, but need not worry as the demand for the posts continues to increase. People want to see business pages so business owners will pay forward what they need to. Viva Facebook, they keep winning!!
TWITTER

With Twitters ability to satisfy business owners alike, with more choice and flexibility in how and what they pay for in terms of advertising, more small and medium sized businesses are flocking towards it.
The new fee-structure allows for businesses to pay for certain performance- based actions rather than just retweets or clicks.

These objective-based campaigns, which are still in beta , will offer more flexibility including tweet engagements, website clicks, app installs, created by the business owners for their direct clients, new followers and leads. These campaigns will particularly appeal to small business owners who want to pay for results and not just brand visibility.

INSTAGRAM

One of my personal favourites– Instagram. This social media platform is not slowing down in any way whatsoever!! With over 200 million monthly users, Instagram has become the network when it comes to image-based social media marketing.
According to the Social Media Marketing Industry Report, 42% of marketers are planning to increase their use of the platform this year, compared to 38% in 2013.
Instagram will also continue to grow in the micro video space. With both Vine and Instagram vying for billing as the top video networking site, the platforms have continued to differentiate themselves from the other offering different features, video lengths and editing capabilities.
With instagrams latest emergence of in-feed video advertising, it’s future looks brighter than ever, as many marketers can promote their products to the young and affluent user base.
So go on, take a selfie or better yet – a slow-mo video for the masses!
Social media marketing will finally be embraced as the core pillar of content marketing and serve as an amplifier towards business strategies and information!

True Facts About Everything

True Facts About Everyday Life

Danish writer/artist duo Mikael Wulff and Anders Morgenthaler created comedic cartoons as well as graphs depicting everyday struggles, irritations and insights of today’s westerners.
These graphs show unofficial statistics from our daily lives that are once unexpected and also glaringly obvious.

Take a look at these comical graphs which are in most cases so true and accurate but also highly relatable.

Be A Hero For The Kids!

BE A HERO FOR KIDS!
This interactive social ad on a sidewalk in South Korea is hard to miss or even ignore, especially at night! The billboard shows the silhouettes of an adult man and a child that he’s threatening with a bottle in his hand. And there’s an empty space between the two, big enough for the passersby to step up and see their own silhouette appear in the scene (thanks to a nearby light), giving them a symbolic nudge to step in and prevent or report real-life incidents of child abuse. If this isn’t inspirational enough, I don’t what is!
The text on the top of the ad says: “Child abuse, you can prevent it.” When a passer-by decides to step into the scene, a superhero-like logo appears on his or her shadow with an emergency number (112) and this message: “Report to become a hero for children.

A Mini Billboard Suite, For The Homeless.

A Mini Billboard Penthouse? Yes Please!

These billboards are no ordinary structures, with just a face and advertisement print upon them. These are little homes for the homeless people to stay off the streets.

One anonymous man behind what is being referred to as the Project Gregory in Slovakia decided to re-purpous the roadside billboards and extend them into economical houses for the homeless!

This is still a concept, so  digital visualisations are provided, which feature these stylish little homes as triangular in shape and each of them feature a living area, a bathroom, kitchen, desk and bed. The billboard homes by architecture team DesignDevelop would take place in accommodated areas for the electricity, plumbing and water facilities to be at hand.

These homes would be for the homeless people to at least have some sort of housing, while the actual structure serves an economic tool of advertising to fund the little homes! This way when a company seeks the rental of a billboard site, the funds allocated to it, serve as a maintenance step for the homes within the billboard.

This is a great idea to help the homeless have a home, comfort and warmth as well as have a billboard which generates money and has the purpose of advertising and promotion of products, all at the same time.

20 Honest Logos

20 Honest Logos…it’s true!

Loads of companies invest in large amounts of money to make their brands look flawless, however even the top brands can’t deliver perfection. Clif Dickens, a graphic designer from Nashvill, USA, decided to point out these flaws on his blog, called Honest Slogans (one of my faves).

Instead of depicting the slogans as they are, he keeps the logo and switches it up with the slogan, adding something a bit more…honest. What’s so hilarious is that, these slogans are deceptive in their apparent simplicity – they are exactly what we thought of these brands, but couldn’t put into words ourselves.

The Hippie Mobile

 THE HIPPIE MOBILE!

This gem of a vehicle takes you back to the 70’s, when everything was “RAD” and people said  things like “NO worries”, ‘peace, love and happiness’, and all the super psychedelic jargon of the past!

This hippie mobile gave our workshop a visit and gave us flashbacks of the good ‘ol times!

The job entailed a full vinyl wrap application to the vehicle, which literally took half a day because of our super fast and amazing team.

The Campaign was for SABC 2 and the client who graced us with completing this job were Tsalena Media.

The bottom half of the vehicle went from a soft green to an electric red, with the SABC Summer Campaign branding in bright colours to represent the season of fun and relaxation.

The branding of the hippie mobile truly gave us a pep in our step to welcome the beautiful festive season!
