MTN Donates A Computer Lab

MTN Donates A Computer Lab

The 21 days of Y’ello Care Campaign hosted by MTN really paid off, not only did MTN partake in such a beautiful initiative, but FrontSeat Group was invited to share in on the self-giving experience too.

Doing great things for others gives you that feel-good factor, and what better way, than to give to a less fortunate school, a gift they can utilise every single day.

Barbeton Secondary School, based in Mpumalanga were very keen on sharing a special day with MTN as well as FrontSeat Group staff, in celebrating the good deeds given to them.

A computer lab revamp initiated by MTN and signage sponsored by FrontSeat Group.

Wishing this school the best of years to come!!

They were anxiously waiting for the big reveal of the newly branded computer lab.

MTN Staff as well as students came together to celebrate this day.

Excitement filled the quad as the newly painted and branded door was ready to be opened for all to see.

A room that used to be plain and less interactive was now alive and stacked with new computer equipment and MTN signage.

21 Days of Y’ello Care continues helping those less fortunate the best way they can.

When companies join hands to do good, wonderful outcomes are achieved.

Nelson Mandela Day

NELSON MANDELA DAY!

On the 18th of July it was the late Nelson Mandela’s birthday, which as the whole world knows, is considered Nelson Mandela Day.
The main initiative of this day is spending 67 minutes or more doing good for those around you and those in need, in honour of Nelson Mandela and all the great things HE did to help free his people, and make South Africa a better place. Nelson Mandela will never be forgotten, he truly was a human being with a heart of gold. We should all aspire to do great things for others out of the joy it brings rather than the benefits.

FrontSeat Group was quick to make sure the day was fulfilled in the best way possible, for our country, our company and most of all, for Madiba!! This day represented a chance for us to make a difference for people who we feel needed it the most.

Our team was super excited and ready in all black FrontSeat gear, big smiles all round and loads of energy.

We started off in a small neighbourhood called Ormonde View, where the community had recently had the opportunity of having a traffic circle created for their convenience. The circle was no ordinary brick and mortar kind, instead it had rich soil ground work, ready to be graced with plenty of lush flora, for the community to see and enjoy upon passing by the area.
The FrontSeat Crew came to the rescue!!

All our staff members got down to their knees to plant all types of plants that would later bloom and make the traffic circle look amazing. We were not afraid to get dirty if it meant working for a greater cause.

The smiles, joking and laughter across the circle was booming with love and heart felt dedication.

A few of the children who lived around the neighbourhood also felt like lending a hand. The more the merrier!!

After a while we started to notice a pattern as well as some progress. It may not look like much now, but these babies are gonna be super huge in the next 3 months.

Soon the entire traffic circle was complete, not a spot was left out.We were tired and sweaty, but it was all worth it. We were told we could come back in a few months and view the progress of the plantation. I will be sure to post pictures on that soon!

The day didn’t end there, we continued on to a small kindergarten called Noddy Pre-school , situated within the same area from the traffic circle, and felt we needed to do something for the population that matters the most- THE KIDS!!
How cute are they??
While the children enjoyed a little reading and playtime as well as lunch indoors, we got to work in painting all their swings throughout the play area, to look new again!!

It was colourful, sticky and messy fun!!

A soda break towards the end was much appreciated by the staff who had been busy all day, making a change as little as it may seem, with a major difference in the end.
It really pays to do good for others before yourself, it’s even better when you have an amazing team!!

21 Days of Charity Work

Giving a Helping Hand, to Those who are in need.

At FrontSeat Group we love to give back to the community and show them just how much we care.
Every year in June, MTN  hosts a campaign called 21 Days of Y’ello Care.

This is when the MTN staff help people who are less fortunate than themselves for 21 days. They have various focus areas which they select from every year, where the staff can choose to give time, energy, care and/or financial assistance. The various focus areas are Education, Health, Economic Empowerment  and other national priority areas.

For 2014, the focus was on Education, so MTN chose to cast the spotlight on the digitisation of teaching and learning as part of their 21 Days of Y’ello Care activities. The Mpumalanga region requested our company to assist with sponsoring signage and a Computer Lab that they would like to be  refurbished at Barbeton Secondary School.
FrontSeat Group took upon this challenge with open arms.

The school was supplied with a PVC sign, chromadek sign and Perspex sign which were installed inside the computer lab. We also painted the lab door yellow and branded their windows with contra vision.
Part of MTN’s vision is ‘to lead the delivery of a bold, new Digital World to our customers’, and the digitally printed media that we installed emphasizes on passing that message across- “Connecting Children to the Digital World”.
You can learn more about this initiative by going to their website at www.mtn.co.za  under CSI-21 Days of Y’ello Care.

The door to the computer lab went from murky teal …..

….To a super cool yellow!!

The classroom windows also needed a little character, maybe to indicate to outsiders that this classroom was different…..
….so we added some signage work on each window pain, in the form of contravision vinyl, to spell out that Barberton had a computer lab.
More signage was placed upon the classroom as well as store room doors, with MTN messaging.
Welcome to the new world, Barberton Secondary’ !!
The signage was all sponsored by FrontSeat group on behalf of MTN.

Signage in the Future

    Image
Fernando Barbella decided to give himself a preview of the future.
In a project he calls Signs From the Future, Barbella, a digital creative director in Barcelona, first collected a series of photographs that depict everyday scenes from cities all around the world. Then, he added signage that he imagines might soon be coming to a street or business near you: a nod from the personal drones, self-driving cars (which are already making a mark) and 3D-printed everything that we’re now constantly being told are just around the corner.
Think the taxi driver in front of you needs to know that they are a horrible driver? Too bad. As the back of one taxi in Barbella’s project spells out, “BE PATIENT. DON’T HONK YOUR HORN. ROBOT IN CHARGE WON’T REACT TO IT.”
Is your hologram companion taking up too much space in a crowded elevator? Push a button that will “temporarily suspend” him/her. And if your food budget is low, the local butcher may be running a “clone a rabbit or chicken for half price” sale.
As humerous as these images are, Barbella specifies that he also wants viewers to “think about how far-or how fast-we want to go in this kind of tecnological race.” This is something that’s cool to see and really hits home.
ENJOY!
This one states to “turn on your device and enjoy our special offers and promotions while commuting”

Digital Media Can Be Satisfying.

The world today is full on Social and Digital Media. Everything we touch, hear and see has to do with the internet and all it’s inter-connected social media and digital platforms.
Although having viewed and seen various digital media and how company’s utilise them in their daily functions, nobody ever just sits back and enjoys the artistic side of Digital media. The actual designers who use computers to generate art like we have never seen it before. Without them, there is hardly any digital/social platforms to entertain.
Below we view a few satisfying images of artists being themselves, super artistic and out of the box, using their skills to create ads, spreads, art pieces and all things digitally enhanced.
Created by the digital media art department of San Jose State University
Creations exhibited at the European Digital Media Art festival in Germany
Digital Media Art and Technology Exhibition
Digital Media Student Exhibition in Parkland
Woodstock Digital Media Festival
These are just a few of the wonderful creations that come about from great digital art designers all around the world.

Greytown’s A Happy Town!

At FrontSeat Group our aim is to always make sure we help create brand exposure for companies who are serious about brand recognition.
A great project executed for one of our top clients MTN, was the branding, painting and installation of boards using  their signature yellow colour, all over the taxi rank of a Kwazulu Natal town, called Greytown.
Greytown originally enjoyed a fair amount of importance, playing ‘little elephant’ to Pietermaritzburg’s place of the elephant. The area around Greytown is awash with rolling sugar cane, pine, wattle, gum and poplar forests. This town is truly beautiful and filled with a happy and friendly community.
Through a written letter to the Umvoti Municipality and Greytown Taxi Association on behalf of MTN, we were given the go ahead to bring a little bit of their town to life, with the MTN symbolic yellow colours and branding that can be spotted from a mile away.
The taxi rank quickly went from being a dull, murky green to a super powerful and vivacious yellow, thanks to our skilled FrontSeat team.
It took our contractor approximately two weeks to complete all the painting of the pillars and walls surrounding as well as erecting the Taxi Rank structure. Manufactured PVC frames to place the MTN boards was also completed within this time frame. We installed destination boards for each isle as to make it way more convenient for the commuters of Greytown.

In addition to the wonderful work done to the Taxi Rank shelter, we went as far as to clean the public toilets allocated around the area, painting them Yellow, for that needed brightness and making it more comfortable for the daily commuters.
This Taxi Rank is allocated in close vicinity with a KFC as well as plenty other supermarkets, so the brand awareness created for the brand within this area will truly be appreciated.

The Markex Experience!

I recently was graced with the opportunity to visit the Markex (Marketing expo) at the Sandton City Convention Centre here in Johannesburg, and boy was it busy!
People from all over the country came together, exhibiting all their company’s attributes, samples and creative craft under one roof. It was exciting and overwhelming all at the same time. So much to see, taste, touch, hear, smell and experience all in one place, I couldn’t wait. I took to taking as many pictures as I could on my smartphone, because what better way to be a blogger than to take snapshots of almost everything you see. 🙂
What I gathered about the many stands on site within the expo, was that many companies were of an events marketing nature, whereby their main focus was to create different atmospheres in the forms of themes for corporate or casual company functions alike, this was a little disappointing as I was anxious and excited to seeing elements along the marketing trends being that of digital and futuristic design, but I guess this is a trend in itself for clients, it’s about who hosts the best parties right??
Here’s my Markex experience through the lens of my Samsung:
It started off with a company called Fizz, which works on events management (obviously) and they help you make your events as professional and corporate as possible, for those more serious places of work. Company heads were at the forefront in networking with these guys, which is pretty awesome for them.

Along the way I came across some marketing savvy guys, who felt they wanted in on the publicity, so taking a snapshot of them was satisfying enough, as they are as happy as can be. Their exhibition stand was super impressive as it had beautiful lighting and a great way of showcasing their work to the masses. 3D Designs has some super friendly and enthusiastic people, as well as futuristic and colourful stand creation work. Well Done!

Their main focus is actually in creating exhibition or point-of-sale stands for all types of companies who seek to stand out from the rest. You could literally see their stand from blocks away, because of all the high resolution LED lighting.

There were other companies who’s main initiative was the creation of exhibition stands too, and their platforms spoke volumes for what they would probably be able to create for other companies as well.

Take a look…

If you are looking towards that large innovative and cost effective wooden and modern effect, The Exhibitionist was the company for you.

Or maybe you would like your clients/customers to escape for awhile to another country’s setting, in the middle of Paris or even London, then Les Nouvelles would be the perfect company for you, as they create artificial layouts that seem so real, that you could tell people you were actually there, and judging by the photographs they wouldn’t second guess you. Hello Instagram!

I just loved how beautiful and well structured their exhibition stand felt. Good quality and  perfect scenery!!

And the telephone booth, actually had a phone in it!! We definitely don’t get these babies around here!!

One of my favourite exhibition stands was that of 3D Deco! Their main mission in life is set on a whimsical and beautiful atmosphere set with different smells, sounds and features that would literally blow your mind!!
I can’t even  begin to describe just how wonderful their work is, so I will just leave you with beautiful snapshots of their past event creations. Think Avatar!!

 Alice in Wonderland!
Forest theme

Roof Deco

Printed Stretch

Full room transformation

Lastly was my ultimate favourite – MONSTER -Productions and events. They are one of the best company’s in the country when it comes to corporate events, promotions or company year end parties. They make sure that when you use their service for your events, you get the full package- Decor, Design, Entertainment, Music, Drinks and Food.
Their stand featured a large screen showcasing all their past events and what their all about!
A cocktail bar, lounge, entertainment and possible VIP area ,
And of course free drinks for those who came to view and learn more on the company’s features.

The bartender served me what they call a Monsterito, which fulfilled its name, texture and taste, a fruit explosion in your mouth!. Yummy!

The Expo was an overall success, but I believe I arrived far too late and missed out on what could have been more action and snapshots for this blog, but ah well, what really sealed the deal, to a perfect end to the day was a beautiful snapshot of the late Nelson Mandela from a company which creates picture frames.
Eat your heart out!! I would kill to have one of these in my home!

Flashback Wednesdays!!

The KFC Mini Cricket Project of year 2012

KFC usually runs a yearly Mini Cricket Campaign, the year 2012 they decided to sponsor selected schools with outstanding signage for their sports fields and entrances.
Through a company known as Mindshare, we produced signs for 61 schools in total, nationwide. There were 3 types of signs created for each school:
  • A free-standing scoreboard (1835 x 2450mm)
  • A portable A-frame/ sandwich scoreboard ( 1000 x 1000mm )
  • A free- standing school nameboard, whereby there was two sizes to choose from ( 1000x2000mm or (700X1175mm)

The artwork was created by our FrontSeat design team. All signs were made with steel frames and vinyl was applied on chromadek.

The lifespan of the steel structures is meant to last for at least 10 years, which is a great attribute as it means the boards will still be standing indicating the g
We also supplied each school with a box kit, filled with number cards (0-9) made of perspex and print work, used to keep score on the scoreboards. These number cards are slid into the aluminium rail when in use and then stored in the box for safekeeping.
The schools were very excited and showed much appreciation for these boards, especially the free standing scoreboards, as they were utilised immediately by some of the school members, right after installation.
We have currently received great feedback and an opportunity to produce more signs.
At FrontSeat Group we take our communities seriously!! 🙂
